Learn more →Google shut down Optimize in September 2023. If you're still looking for a replacement - or you patched together a workaround and want something better - ConversionWax offers A/B testing, geo-targeted personalization, and campaign scheduling starting at $19/month.
Start Your Free 14-Day TrialGoogle Optimize was free, integrated with Google Analytics, and good enough for basic A/B tests. Millions of sites used it. When Google pulled it, teams had three options: pay for an enterprise tool like Optimizely, hack together something with GA4 audiences, or find a mid-market replacement.
Most teams don't need an enterprise testing suite. They need to test a few variations, see which one performs better, and move on. That's what ConversionWax does - plus visual personalization features that Google Optimize never offered.
Visual asset personalization. Google Optimize could swap text and run redirect tests. ConversionWax swaps images, videos, and banners based on visitor context - location, campaign source, time of day, weather. This is a category Google Optimize never entered.
Geo-targeting. Show different hero images to visitors in London vs. New York. Google Optimize could segment by geography in reports, but couldn't dynamically swap content by location.
Campaign scheduling. Set a banner to go live Friday at midnight and expire Monday morning. Google Optimize had no scheduling capability.
Built-in asset management. Upload images, generate new ones with AI, manage versions. No more bouncing between your testing tool and a separate asset pipeline.
A/B testing per banner. Every banner variant runs a split test with click and conversion tracking. Available on Growth ($49/month) and above.
Google Optimize was free. ConversionWax starts at $19/month, with A/B testing on the Growth plan at $49/month.
Google Optimize had native Google Analytics integration - experiment results showed up directly in your GA reports. ConversionWax has its own analytics dashboard, which is focused on banner performance (clicks, renders, conversions by variant and viewport).
If you only needed basic A/B text tests and you already had GA set up, Google Optimize was hard to beat on convenience. But it's gone, and the replacement options from Google (GA4 audiences + manual implementation) aren't really a replacement.
ConversionWax has a free Community plan with 5,000 pageviews/month. For A/B testing, you'll need the Growth plan at $49/month. There is no direct free replacement with the same feature set as Google Optimize.
ConversionWax tests visual assets - images, banners, and videos. It does not do text-based content tests. If you need to A/B test headlines or copy, tools like VWO or Optimizely handle that.
ConversionWax has its own analytics dashboard focused on banner performance. It tracks clicks, renders, and conversions by variant, viewport, and location.
